PANEL: The Business Transformation of IT9:45am - 10:30am May 9Bach
Moderator: Russ Finney
IT Business Transformation can make or break an organization's efforts at establishing competitive advantage through the tactical use of technology resources.
The term represents a shift in the role of technology beyond just business process management and business - IT alignment, to that of IT business integration. The objective is to create a business environment in which the IT organization is not merely installing technology to support business processes, but is also using technology to shape and transform the business strategy.
So, where's a CIO or IT executive to start in generating or updating a concise IT planning document to guide the organization in the years ahead?
True business transformation requires a fresh look at how a business operates. Today’s CIO/ IT leader needs to rethink the potential of IT and focus on delivering innovation and new value streams to the business. Building a business driven IT roadmap that addresses digital transformation and the introduction of disruptive technology is the new way of life. Cloud, social, mobile, anytime, anyplace, anywhere, places demands on how the enterprise needs to stay connected. CIO/IT leaders that can successfully deliver this new flexible architecture with speed and agility will bring a competitive advantage to their organizations.
Attend this panel session and learn strategies and best practices from experienced IT Leaders -

Innovation Through Cybersecurity. How to Gain a Competitive Edge While Your Competition is Snoozing12:45pm - 1:30pm May 9Wannacry. NotPetya. Ransomware. Spearphishing. Equifax.
These terms have made headlines around the world. Companies have been caught in the crossfire between cyberattacks launched by one government against another.
Turning a blind eye and hoping that your company will not be a victim is no longer an option. The threat is real.
So is the opportunity. Companies can start using cybersecurity as a competitive advantage, not a necessary evil. Want to know how? Bryce Austin has written a book on the topic. Through the judicious use of technology, companies are using cybersecurity to gain an edge that leaves their competitors scrambling to catch up.
How can we bring these concepts to life for you and your team? People need to feel the message, not just hear it. Join me in this keynote session as we examine spectacular in-car racing footage for signs to detect, react, prevent and mitigate life safety issues on the racetrack. Then we will apply those techniques to the business world and see how cybersecurity can be a competitive advantage to your organization.

From Incidents to Innovations: IT Survival in the Technology Fast Lane4:00pm - 4:45pm May 9Today’s IT executives are finding themselves challenged by two unrelenting dynamics: the never ending pace of technological change, and the demand from the business to provide unique and competitive innovations.
What are the various ways in which successful CIOs and executives can meet these demands?
Russ Finney has spent his career both as an IT executive and as an advisory researcher understanding these challenges. He draws his insights from his time as an IT executive working inside the computer chip industry at a Japanese semiconductor company, as well as serving as a consultant to some of the most advanced companies in the world. Through his firm’s research he has a direct line of sight into the processes used by cutting edge global organizations to stay on pace and innovate in today’s technology fast lane.
This presentation he examines six key drivers of innovation within a modern day company: Disruption, Obsolescence, Unexpected Incidents, the Bigger View, Tribal Change, and a Structured Process. He gives first hand examples and direct experiences with each method, including the innovations and changes which resulted from his lessons learned from dealing with situations such as the recent Japanese Tsunami.
The key take away from this overview is executive level actionable thinking and ideas for creating IT innovations which can be immediately applied at any company no matter the size or the sophistication.
